Gently Nurturing Yourself

by Lorraine Town.

It is interesting how at this time of the year when the days are shorter and the nights colder, that it is natural for us to be slightly more indrawn than during the hurley burley of the warmer and more social months.  At this time we can be a little more introspective, experience a sense of less energy as the body adapts to the colder weather and perhaps at times, be more aware of our own needs physically, emotionally, mentally and on a heart level.

It is a wonderful opportunity to gently nurture oneself, taking the time for quiet walks or to read a good book, to check out a new wellness régime and to perhaps acknowledge areas of our life where we can contemplate a kinder way to heal and let go of moments in the past that have caused hurts or still hold residual judgment.

At this time of year Traditional Chinese Medicine states that our kidney energy is slightly lower indicating that it is important to allow time for rest and regeneration and also to let go of any fears by embracing and acknowledging our intrinsic self-worth.

To this end, meditation can provide the quiet inner soil in which to plant and nurture the new seeds of hope and inspiration for the coming summer, for it is from the quiet inner space within the heart that we draw upon the energy of regeneration, kindness, compassion, courage, self-acceptance and joy.  People have meditated for thousands of years for the purpose of tapping into their own unique and innate potential and you are warmly invited to join our next monthly 4 week Learn to Meditate course at The Healing Rooms.

Wishing you a very gentle and self-nurturing month - you are worth it!
