Grief Assistance with Bowen Therapy

by Jen Taylor.

Bowen Therapy can provide a space in which to honour and nurture the grief one is feeling. It assists in dealing with our emotions from those even seemingly small hurts which have been tucked away. Grief can present itself in many forms creating tension, then over time, pain and restriction within the body manifests from these pushed away feelings and hurts.

Bowen is a gentle form of bodywork aimed at settling the nervous systems and creating homeostasis, the foundation for optimal healing. Within the process of specific sets of gentle moves, the treatment also allows a safe place to ‘get things off your chest’. By shifting from ‘fight and flight’ to a ‘rest and digest’ state of being, healing then takes place.

Each person deals with loss experiences differently, however to acknowledge and allow ourselves the gift of this time, exploration can offer some release of tension and help to find understanding & hope. One can then find the way to more acceptance, which evolves into an ease and harmony within the physical body.

This change, observed by clients, is often apparent at completion of a treatment. A series of sessions is usually recommended, however your Therapist will be able to discuss what will be most beneficial for your lifestyle and goals.
